PRACTICAL INFORMATION
TIME: The meditation circle usually meets on the first Thursday of each month, except in July.
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to the Self-Realization Fellowship Convocation in August, there will be no meditation circle meeting in August 2026.
In October 2026, the meeting will be held on Thursday, October 15, instead of the first Thursday of the month.
LOCATION: Humanova, Balders gate 11, Oslo
ATTENDANCE
Please arrive on time. There will be no access to the meditation room after the meditation has started. Please adhere to the times stated on this site. Large bags and backpacks must be placed in designated places. Footwear must be removed in the hallway. Please feel free to bring a small cushion to sit on, as well as an extra sweater or scarf.
You are also welcome to bring pranami (a devotional offering) in the form of fruit. The fruit symbolizes the devotee’s reverence and devotion to the Guru. After the blessing, the fruit may be taken as prasad and eaten later, after you have left the meditation room.
We enter the meditation room in silence. We also leave it in silence to preserve what we have participated in, in the sacred presence.

RECOMENDATIONS
Paramahansa Yogananda said that "meditation is the ability to take the mind away from any distracting object and place it on God alone." Here are a few important points for achieving this state:
CORRECT POSTURE: Sit relaxed with a straight spine, feet flat on the floor, shoulders slightly pulled back, chest out, stomach slightly in and hands with palms facing upwards, resting in the area between thighs and stomach. It is important that there is no tension.
GENTLY FOCUS YOUR EYES UPWARDS: With your eyes closed or half-open, gently focus your gaze toward the Christ Consciousness Center (the point between your eyebrows).
FOCUS THOUGHTS ON GOD: If you don't know any meditation technique, silently call upon God in the language of your heart. Make a constant effort to remain focused in your meditation.
MEDITATING IN GROUPS
In group meditation, devotees come together in silent fellowship to reinforce each other's efforts toward Self-realization. Effective group meditation is only possible if each person shares the responsibility for creating a peaceful and calm atmosphere. The following guidelines are an outline of some positive steps you can take to create a peaceful atmosphere for group meditation.
GUIDELINES
BEFORE MEDITATION
Turn off electronic devices.
If you have a lot of coughing, a cold, or have another condition that creates noise or restlessness that may affect others, please meditate at home.
If you start coughing, please leave the meditation room.
Wear clothes made of soft fabric that does not make noise.
Please do not wear perfume or strong scents.
No food or drink is allowed in the meditation room.
DURING MEDITATION
If possible, please avoid using the restroom while we are meditating.
Practice meditation in a way that is not heard by others.
Sit quietly during periods of silent meditation.
If necessary, you can stand and stretch gently for periods while we chant.
TERMINATION Please strive to stay for the entire meditation. Otherwise, leave the meditation room at the beginning of a period of chanting. Remain silent until you are well away from the meditation room.
OTHER INFORMATION
The group follows the teachings and practices of SRF.
There will be chanting, short readings of sacred texts and prayer along the way.
We also have books published by SRF for those who want to become more familiar with Yogananda's Spirituality.
Please contact us if you would like to purchase/borrow literature.
We respect and honor the great masters of all religions. However, in order for members of the group to be able to follow the SRF path without distraction, we do not discuss the work of other religious/spiritual teachers or organizations when we gather in this context.
