The Self-Realization Fellowship Lessons are a comprehensive course in meditation. They are a structured home-study program developed by Paramahansa Yogananda. The Lessons introduce foundational meditation techniques first and later include the practices of Kriya Yoga for those who progress through the program.
The Lessons present Yogananda’s teachings in a clear and systematic manner, with an emphasis on personal experience and practical application in everyday life.
What do the SRF Lessons include?
The program offers step-by-step instruction in:
Energization Exercises to recharge the body with life energy and prepare it for meditation.
The Hong-Sau Technique for concentration and inner stillness.
The AUM Technique for meditating on the inner sacred sound.
The fundamental principles of meditation and Paramahansa Yogananda's spiritual teachings.
How meditation can be applied in daily life.
Kriya Yoga, for students who later qualify for initiation.
All of the material is intended for regular home practice and gradually builds upon what has already been learned in earlier instruction.
Who is the program for?
The SRF Lessons are suitable for:
both beginners and experienced practitioners of meditation.
individuals seeking a disciplined and well-rounded approach to spiritual practice.
those who prefer a home-based course that can be followed at their own pace.
The program requires no prior experience and can be integrated into ordinary daily life.
Structure and format
The Lessons are received progressively over time and are designed to be studied and practiced in sequence. This gradual approach reflects Yogananda’s method of instruction and is intended to provide a stable foundation for personal practice and inner growth.
